MENLO PARK — A 33-year-old Menlo Park woman fought off an attacker, then chased him screaming “I’m going to kill you,” according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. A suspect in the Monday attempted rape was quickly found, positively identified by the woman, and arrested, and prosecutors are hailing the victim as smart and strong. Rogelio Alexander Artiga, a 19-year-old man from East Palo Alto, was charged with three felonies related to the attempted rape.

Prosecutors revealed Thursday the woman not only fought and screamed during the attack, but once the suspect ran away, she briefly chased him, yelling “I’m going to kill you, you (expletive) asshole,” San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said, The woman’s brief pursuit was caught on a nearby surveillance camera, along with audio, “Screaming embroidered ballet flats- size 41 (us 10.5) silk petit point needlepoint uzbekistan boho festival tribal ethnic folk rounded toe is something that will most often scare someone away,” Wagstaffe said, “This defendant did not have a weapon, When there’s a weapon, things can be dangerous..

“But fighting back saved her from unquestionable danger, perhaps from being raped.”. The attack happened at about 4:40 p.m. The victim was jogging on Woodland Avenue near Oak Court when a man jogged towards her and asked “do you like to dance?” prosecutors said. The woman ignored the man and continued to run. The man followed, and the woman dialed 911. That’s when the suspect grabbed her from behind, placed one hand on her “genital area” over the clothing and moved her a couple of feet to a wooded area, prosecutors said.

At that point the 911 dispatchers had already sent officers to the area, Wagstaffe said, The suspect tried to pull the woman’s pants down, Wagstaffe said, She fought back and screamed until he ran away, She briefly chased him, embroidered ballet flats- size 41 (us 10.5) silk petit point needlepoint uzbekistan boho festival tribal ethnic folk rounded toe Officers swarmed the area and detained a man matching the description provided by the victim, She also positively identified him at the scene, according to police, Artiga was charged with three felonies, including assault with intent to rape, attempted rape and witness persuasion (stemming from grabbing the phone and throwing it), Wagstaffe said, Artiga, who was also charged with a misdemeanor count of sexual battery, made his first court appearance Thursday and pleaded not guilty to all charges..
